Henry J. Kemp, Sr.
Mr. Henry J. Kemp, Sr. ("Pop Pop"), age 86, of New Castle, DE, died on Thursday, November 8, 2007, at Brandywine Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, surrounded by his beloved family.
Born in Cheswold, DE on April 4, 1921, son of the late Brice Kemp and Josephine Ford Kemp, Mr. Kemp proudly served his country in the US Army during World War II. He was employed with the former H.M. Paschall & Sons in Edgemoor, DE, retiring as a foreman after over 45 years of service.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Margaret B. Fleetwood Kemp; 6 children, Jimmy Kemp and wife, Cheryl, of Elkton, MD; Rebecca Wetherall and husband, Ken, of Milford, DE; Phyllis Adams and husband, Ron, of New Castle, DE; Steven C. Kemp of New Castle, DE; Janet L. Kemp of Dover, DE; and William B. Kemp and wife, Karen, of Hartly, DE; his sister, Ethel Helfrick of San Jose, CA; 9 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the staff of Brandywine Nursing Center for their love and devotion to Henry during the time they cared for him and for the remarkable compassion they gave to his family. The family also thanks the nurses and staff of Compassionate Care Hospice, who came in a time of need and treated everyone with love and compassion.
Friends may call 6-8 pm on Thursday, November 15, 2007 at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE. A funeral service will be held at
11 am on Friday, November 16, 2007 at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE.
